Epilepsy Qld - Hand over hand project

Epilepsy Queensland asked me to support the "Stand Up for Epilepsy" project, with the goal being to break down barriers of prejudice, ignorance and superstition surrounding the most common serious neurological disorders and in particular Epilepsy. Often, a person with epilepsy deals more with the stigmatization and discrimination that for epilepsy itself.

The aim is to create a collection of photographs of famous sportspersons meeting people with epilepsy in the context of their sports. The photographs will convey the message that people with epilepsy, like athletes themselves, can be inspired to achieve their goals and lead full and active lives.
The collection will focus on an 'Olympic theme', but leading players in any sport can be included to have a comprehensive representation of sports all over the world.
The collection will be exhibited at the London 2012 European Congress on Epileptology, which will be held shortly after the London Olympics.
The collection is intended to be published as a book of photographs, and the images will be made available to National Chapters for advocacy initiatives in their own countries.
Here are some photo's that I did with some girls from all over Queensland that are passionate about swimming and enjoy training despite suffering from Epilepsy.
